A Texas Water Heater Leak Repair Company

We repair leaking water heaters across Texas, tank and tankless, gas and electric. We trace the water to the valve, fitting or tank it comes from, then fix that part or replace a heater whose tank has failed.

Our Story

We do one job: we find out why a water heater is leaking and stop it. That covers tank and tankless heaters, gas and electric, in Texas garages, attics, closets and utility rooms. When the tank shell itself has rusted through, the job becomes replacing that heater, because a corroded tank cannot be patched.

Keeping the work to leaking heaters means every question we ask on the phone, and everything we check at the house, points at the heater and the pipes connected to it. A drip from the top and a puddle at the base are different problems with different fixes, and our page on water heater leak repair in Texas shows how we sort them.

How We Work on Every Job

Every job starts with the leak's source, because the source decides whether you need a part or a new heater. The person who answers your call asks where the water is showing up, whether the heater runs on gas or electricity, and walks you through closing the cold-water supply valve above the tank and turning off the gas control or the breaker.

At the heater, we dry the area and check the temperature and pressure relief valve and the discharge line that runs from it, the drain valve near the bottom, the hot and cold fittings and nipples on top, the drain pan, and finally the tank seams. Water at the base is not always the tank. A loose drain valve, or condensation on a gas unit, often leaves the same puddle.

One thing we look at closely is a relief valve that keeps dripping. The valve sometimes drips because it is doing its job, letting off pressure that builds as water heats in a closed system. Swapping the valve without checking the house pressure can leave the new one dripping the same way. We tell you what we found and why before we talk about repair or replacement. Some of those answers cannot be given from a photo.

Texas Plumbing Licensing Rules for Water Heater Work

Texas law treats water heater work as plumbing work. Texas Occupations Code section 1301.053 lets appliance dealers install and service appliances without a plumbing license, but it makes an exception for water heaters, so that work stays under the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. A homeowner may still do plumbing on their own homestead without a license, under section 1301.051.

The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners gives consumers two simple checks. A Master Plumber license number begins with the letter M; numbers starting with A, T, J or any other letter belong to other license types. The board's online license search shows whether the Responsible Master Plumber's license is valid and whether a Certificate of Insurance is on file.

Permits are set city by city. The state board tells homeowners to ask the plumbing inspections office in their own city whether a job needs a permit and an inspection, and state law lets each city amend the plumbing code it adopts.

Our Service Area in Texas

We work across Texas and come to the home, so the heater stays where it is and we bring the tools to it. Leaks follow the weather here. FEMA's disaster declaration for the February 2021 winter storm, DR-4586, named all 254 Texas counties, so a frozen line at a garage or attic heater is a statewide problem. In summer, a slow drip from an attic heater can go unseen until it stains a ceiling.
